WAYS TO GIVE

HOW YOU CAN HELP

Volunteer

Volunteers are vital to the ministry of Waterfront Rescue Mission. Volunteering at Waterfront is more than simply donating time; it’s feeding the hungry, clothing the poor, encouraging the hopeless, and investing your skills and abilities into the lives of others to make our community a better place to live and work for everyone — including our homeless neighbors!

Item Donations

An important way you can help those served at Waterfront is through item donations. You can donate food, as well as new or gently-used items to the Mission to help stock and fund our emergency shelters and Recovery Programs, and other services we provide to the less fortunate in our community.

Shop Thrift

Waterfront Thrift Stores are a small chain of not-for-profit thrift stores supporting the rescue and recovery ministry of the Waterfront Rescue Mission. 100% of proceeds from Waterfront Thrift Stores support the life-changing work of Waterfront. It's shopping with a purpose!

LifeBuilder Sponsorship

You have the unique opportunity to sponsor the transformation of men who were once slaves to addiction, and are now transitioning to a life of independence, responsibility, and productivity. During the 90-day LifeBuilder Recovery Program, men undergo total transformation: counseling, classes, and job-readiness training, plus skills in resume building, banking, budget planning – and life.

WHY SHOULD YOU MAKE A DONATION TO WATERFRONT RESCUE MISSION?

For 70+ years, Waterfront Rescue Mission has impacted the lives of people who are homeless in Pensacola, Fla. and Mobile, Ala. The Mission continues to provide life changing opportunities to men and women who have been devastated by homelessness and addiction.

Through monetary donations from individuals and businesses, the Mission is able to feed the hungry, offer safe shelter nightly, provide warm showers, and supply clean clothing to individuals seeking help. Through the Mission’s Recovery Program, individuals wanting to conquer their addiction and leave their life of homelessness will get the help they need to overcome their habits and end ‘living on the streets’ for good.

The reason the Mission is able to do these things is because of the generosity of the community and there are numerous ways you can help support the Mission. The Mission will connect your donations of money, items and goods, as well as your time, talents, professional skills and prayers with the individuals and families who need them most.

MONETARY DONATIONS

Waterfront Rescue Mission is an accredited charity with the Better Business Bureau and the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability. Waterfront is a member of CityGate Network and has earned the GuideStar Platinum Seal of Transparency. Every dollar is stretched for maximum benefit. In fact, 84.5% of dollars received go directly for program services, including the Mission’s Recovery Program.

LEGACY GIVING

Do Something for Tomorrow Today

Planning your giving allows you to leave a lasting Legacy while helping Waterfront Rescue Mission now and in the future.  Multiple options are available for many different situations.

If you don’t have an estate plan, the State will distribute assets according to their formula. This means that treasured mementos may not go to the persons you intended; important people in your life may be overlooked; and the ministries you support, like Waterfront, will be forgotten.

The best way to avoid this, and to minimize estate taxes, is to prepare a will or trust. These documents allow you to stay in control of your assets and leave a legacy of hope for future generations. For specific information, we suggest you talk to your financial and tax advisors.

Planned giving can help you:

Reduce your income taxes
Increase your spendable income
Achieve worry-free asset management
Automate giving
Avoid capital-gains tax
Retain payments for life

RECURRING DONATIONS

Join our Monthly Miracle Partners (MMP). MMPs have committed to give an electronically recurring monthly donation for at least one year.  As an MMP, your ongoing support will help meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of our hurting neighbors.

MMP membership saves you and Waterfront time and money by eliminating checks, stamps, and the need to mail envelopes.  MMP members receive their receipt by email, immediately when the transaction is completed each month.

HONOR & MEMORIAL GIVING

Your gift, in memory or in honor of a loved one, friend or special occasion, is not only a thoughtful way to pay tribute to someone special but also a wonderful way to help meet the needs of those less fortunate in your community.

A contribution may be given in lieu of flowers for a loved one who is deceased or to honor special occasions such as, anniversaries, weddings, birthdays and graduations.

By Check or Money Order

Download the honor/memorial gift form and mail with your check or money order to your local Mission. View for addresses of other ministries of the Waterfront Rescue Mission.
