Meet Lynn
After a painful divorce, Lynn moved to Pensacola to be near his father. Following his father’s example, he turned to alcohol to cope, and his struggles soon left him feeling hopeless—at one point even attempting to take his own life. After being arrested for a false report, he was offered a choice: enter Waterfront’s LifeBuilder Recovery Program or face prison. He entered our recovery program but later admitted that, at first, he was simply going through the motions. After graduating, he found himself surrounded by the wrong influences and relapsed. Old habits quickly resurfaced, leading to fights, a parole violation, and eventually time in jail.
But Lynn didn’t give up. He moved to Tallahassee, hoping for a fresh start. He committed to sobriety and even became president of a local transitional house. Today, he’s nearly four years clean and sober, and has a stable job. He is now an ordained minister, engaged, and a father. His son was given the initials J.O.B., named after Job in the Bible, a man whose story has been a constant source of encouragement in Lynn’s life.
Reflecting on his journey, Lynn says:
“Recovery is absolutely possible. You are capable of far more than you think. Don’t listen to the inner demons that tell you otherwise…”
“With God’s grace, I can provide a loving home for my family and give my son the childhood I never had, thanks to Waterfront Mission’s guidance and love.”
Lynn is working toward saving for a home and plans to soon marry his fiancée! A life once unimaginable is now firmly within reach, a reminder to never give up on yourself.
